This was an extremely fun week in the Seagrape class!
We have been learning all about our community, and all of the goods, services, and jobs that help a community run smoothly. Since we were learning about community helpers, we had some actual community helpers come in and share all about their jobs!
Gavi’s dad is an investor and the class learned all about companies, and specifically how Gavi’s dad invested in a scooter company! The kids learned how all about products and how to best sell them. The kids then partnered up and picked something in the room to sell to the rest of the class- it was so funny!
Noah’s dad is an inspirational speaker and taught us how to inspire other people. We learned that he helps people all over the world with his videos and his book. We learned a great meditation technique from him called Stop Smile Breathe Be, and we’ve been using it in class ever since!
Jonathan’s mom is a chef- she told us how she came from a long line of people that were cooks in her family! In class she taught us how to make fruit kabobs, the learners got to pick their fruit and even use cookie cutters to make fun shapes on the kabobs!
Mako’s dad is a territory manager in medical sales- he sells coils and stents to doctors and trains doctors for procedures and best practices. The class got to see an example with a real machine that showed how the coils and stents work inside of a person’s arteries if they have an aneurism.
Henri’s mom is a writer and editor. She told the class all about newspapers and magazines, about writing copy, interviewing people, and editing. She even showed us some of the amazing things she has written in magazines and newspapers. The class even got to create their own magazines and newspapers, they came up with some really great ones!
Elle’s dad is a real estate agent, and he came in and taught the class all about what a real estate agent does and how they help people buy, sell, and rent homes. They even learned a very important skill- how to negotiate! The learners even played a game where they got to pretend to be real estate agents and helped each other buy and sell pretend houses. You would not believe how much fun they had with this game, they didn’t want to stop playing!
The learners and I learned so much this week about all different types of jobs and community helpers, thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came in and presented!
