On March 1, our elementary-level learners held the first annual Earth Summit Learning Exhibition. We were joined by Mayor Gelber and Commissioner Mikey Steinberg who declared March 1st as Innovative School Day and honored our school with an official Miami Beach Proclamation for our dedication to making the world a better place! The Summit was the culmination of the learning that took place this term in our Deep Studies curriculum. Science, social studies, reading, writing, math, language, and Judaic Studies were woven into the Earth Summit Learning Exhibition.
Our child-centered approach engages and rewards learners while deepening their learning and enhancing their ability to retain valuable knowledge. Balancing rigorous academic study with joy in learning may seem counterintuitive to some, however, both things can be true! In a thank you email, Eco-artist Xavier Cortada, who was a guest speaker at the event, wrote, “We were so impressed by the caliber of the work, the passion of the educators, and the enthusiasm of the parents.”
The Innovative School promotes academic rigor by challenging and supporting learners to acquire real-world skills by tackling real-world problems, and by learning exactly the way you would in the real world.
We are proud of all of our leaders, learners, and change-makers!
My Best Always,
Stacy
